Tips for implementing Sustainable HR practices in your organization

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐑 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐑 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬?

It was an honour to run this masterclass for The Matcha Initiative last Friday, in Elitez Group of Companies offices. I left the room energized by the participants’ interest and engagement, on a topic that is so critical. 



A few key take-away, if you missed the session:



1.  ➡#Sustainable #HR practices are the true mirror of how you treat people (inside and outside your company). Think employees, but also potential candidates, alumni, communities and your business ecosystem.  What do you want to see in this mirror? 🔎 



2.  ➡Some deep trends are impacting how organizations rethink at HR (the rise of the mental health concern, the never ending “war on talent”, the changing aspirations of workers’ generations, etc…). How do you make sense of these in your HR strategy? 🤔 💡



3.  ➡There is a huge short term and long term cost of not doing anything! #Business leaders, #CHROs and #CFOs, be aware of this! Over-maximizing profit does not sit well with sustainable and progressive practices (in HR like in any other area by the way). 💸



4.  ➡You can use a simple framework to progress. Does not matter if you are at a 3 or a 8 on the scale of sustainable practices in your organization, there is always a starting point! 📈



5.  ➡Engage, engage, engage… at all levels of your organization, and start from the top. If leaders are not engaged and leading the way, it’s like writing with your other hand: it’s hard, it takes time, and you want to switch back to your other hand quickly (aka old habits) ✍ 😓



6.  ➡We all hate greenwashing, right? Don’t get into #peoplewashing (I think I might have invented this one!). … Be genuine, committed and sincere in your decisions and actions. People notice when you do the right thing, for real. They also notice quickly when you don’t and the price to pay to build your credibility back is huge (if it ever comes back...). ⚖



7.  ➡You don’t know where to start? Dream big, start small. Design your plan, see what you can easily implement first. 🌈
